Starting off at Kelvingrove Park, one of<br />

Glasgow’s oldest and most beautiful public<br />

parks, you’ll walk along the Forth and Clyde<br />

canal, arriving at the Falkirk wheel, the<br />

world’s first and only rotating boat lift,<br />

before passing Linlithgow Palace and finishing in the nation’s<br />

capital. It’s quite a flat route but does include a couple of hills.<br />

Lynda Bradley won this year’s putter<br />

prize with 38 points. Susan Reid<br />

was second. Mary Lochhead won<br />

the lady Captain & lady vice Captain for a lovely lunch<br />

celebrating this annual event.<br />

8th June Lady Captain’s Day was postponed before<br />

the fi rst shot was played as the greens & fairways<br />

were suffering from overnight rain. The rain continued<br />

all day.<br />

The day was saved by Stuart, Maimie & the catering<br />

team who served a delicious afternoon tea to 46 ladies<br />

amid much chatter & laughter. David Muir drew the<br />

winning ticket for a ‘Round of Golf for 4 at Kilmarnock<br />

Barassie Golf Club’. Joy Monteith was the lucky<br />

winner. This raised over £200 for the Golf Club Fabric Fund.<br />

1st June Away day at Hamilton Golf Club<br />

27 players took the coach to Hamilton,<br />

enjoying a Tri-am on this lovely James Braid<br />

designed, parkland golf course. Bacon Rolls<br />

at the start & a 2 course supper & prize giving<br />

at the end of the day before a coach trip back<br />

to Kilmacolm made our ‘Away Day’ a happy,<br />

successful experience.<br />

The winners were Sara Bishop, Cherry Briggs<br />

& Lucy Woods with a net 62. 2nd Morag<br />

Turner, Fiona Malcolm, Netta Greer, net 65.<br />

3] Cherry Briggs. Longest Drive [bronze]<br />

Sandra Winter. The putting prize was hotly<br />

contested, with 3 teams on 8 putts. Sara’s<br />

team winning over Morag & Lois’s teams on a<br />

count back, last 2 holes!<br />

Turnhouse: Lyn Reuben & Ann Tanner.<br />

4th May Captain’s Charity Stableford<br />

A busy day of golf & fundraising; with the winners of the golf; Silver: Clair<br />

Barclay. Bronze: Tricia Kellock. The stalls were laden with home baking,<br />

plants, books & gifts. A raffle & many kind donations brought the total for<br />

the Captain’s Charity [www.pancanScot] to an amazing total of £1,405.<br />

Grateful thanks to all who helped & contributed on the day.
