evening kicks off on a patriotic note at 7:15<br />

p.m. with the National Anthem, followed by a<br />

concert at 7:30 p.m. At 9 p.m., the nighttime<br />

sky lights up with a spectacular 25-minute<br />

fireworks display accompanied by patriotic<br />

booths. The swimming pool at Luckie<br />

Park will stay open until 8:30 p.m. Fireworks<br />

The Children’s Discovery Museum will host<br />

an Independence Day Parade at The River in<br />

Rancho Mirage starting at 5:30 p.m. <strong>July</strong> 1.<br />

The event is free and open to all ages. Participants<br />

are encouraged to bring a bike, trike<br />

or stroller to decorate in true patriotic style<br />

beginning at 4 p.m.<br />

Hot tip! Welcome to the Drummer <strong>California</strong><br />

Weekend!!! <strong>June</strong> 30 - <strong>July</strong> 2. Friday night<br />

there will be the Fetish Masquerade Ball at the<br />

Barracks in Cathedral City. Admission is by<br />

DONATION. Recommended donation is $10.<br />

Costumes are strongly urged!!! There will entertainment<br />

as well as dancing.<br />

Saturday night is the actual contest for Drummer,<br />

Drummerboy, and this year Drummer<br />

Bootblack. Festivities will begin at 8:00 PM<br />

sharp!!!<br />

Also after the contest on Saturday, there will be<br />

a Queer play space at the Barracks. Tickets will<br />

also be on sale at the Barracks.<br />

Twentynine <strong>Palm</strong>s Start the day by participating<br />

in the Firecracker 5000, a one-mile day afternoon along with a vendor mart.<br />

BDSM Classes and such will be offered on Satur-<br />

fun run open to all ages. Earn a one-day pool<br />
