Obedience Committee
June 1 began a 2-year trial period for clubs to have the option of allowing
bitches in season to compete. Starting June 2018, there will be another
option. If it is posted in the premium, clubs will be able to allow bitches in
season to compete for scores and legs only. The Obedience Committee
has created a document to educate clubs about allowing Bitches in Season
to compete in obedience. The entire report can be found in this issue on
page XX.
About Committee Work
Anyone wishing to serve on an ASCA Committee, prepare your resume
(include your ASCA Region) and submit to executive.secretary@asca.org.
Committee work can be fun but is also intense at times. The
Program Committees are the back-bone of ASCA as subject-matter
experts.
Committees Looking for new Members
If you enjoy working together with others to serve as the program experts
to assist the ASCA Board with program rules and regulations or working
on legislative issues or ASCA history, consider applying to serve on an
ASCA Committee. Most committees have vacancies. Resumes can be
sent in at any time to the executive secretary. ASCA’s volunteers are
essential to the continuation of ASCA’s programs.
Send resumes to executive.secretary@asca.org.
Judge Addresses
Judges who have moved must send a change of address to the Business
Office. Additionally, all judges should submit current email addresses so
updated contact information can be added to the judges’ list. With so many
people hiring judges using email, the e-mail addresses need to be current.
Sires, Dams and DNA
Sires and Dams must be DNA profiled prior to the registration of their first
litter. Please send a copy of your registration or litter registration to Therion
with the DNA samples. This will help Therion decipher handwritten
applications without having to contact the Business Office. Only
Australian Shepherds who are going to be bred need to have a DNA
test.
ASCA-L
Moderators needed! ASCA is taking over ASCA-L after many,
many years of wonderful work by Frank Butera and Patrick MacRoberts
ASCA-L needs light moderation in order to maintain a
constructive and supportive environment for discussion of ASCA
business.
We recognize the need to keep it as fair and open as possible,
and are, therefore, looking for moderators who:
• Are ASCA members
• Do not hold a national leadership position in ASCA (Board or
committee)
• Are able to remain impartial to friends and situations
• Have strong written communication skills
• Are willing to be forceful and firm as required
• Are team players (moderators will work together to resolve
situations as they arise).
Moderators will privately contact people violating rules, or
getting close to it, and be responsible for putting members ignoring
warnings on review.
Preference will be given to those with prior experience in online
moderation in any form.
Please send your letter of interest via email to:
jeanroberts.asca@gmail.com.
If you are experiencing trouble joining ASCA-L please contact
the webmaster@asca.org
Purina Pro Club Partnership Program
Thank you to all the ASCA Purina Pro Club members who submitted
weight circles and signed up for the Parent Club Partnership Program.
Purina had 423 members sign up and 99 submitted weight circles
from Jan - Dec 2016. We earned $2,448.61 last year.
We just received another check in the amount of $1224.31 for
the ASCA Foundation to be used for health research through
organizations like ASHGI.Purina sends a matching check to the
Canine Health Foundation so your weight circles earn twice. In
calendar year 2016 the benefit to canine health research, education
and rescue efforts was $438,000.00. Thank You again for your
support.
For those of you who feed Purina and are members of the Pro
Club, don’t forget to enroll in the Purina Parent Club Partnership
Program. Purina will donate 10 percent of the value of the Weight Circle
points you submit. Half will go to ASCA and half to the Canine Health
Foundation. Your earned points are not touched. (This will in no way
impact your personal rewards as these are matching funds.) The
donation is used to conduct health and wellness studies, education
campaigns and rescue efforts for your chosen breed. Apply at
PurinaProClub.com or call 1-877-776-2582. We have been renewed
through Dec. 2018.
