elcome back to all our 

W learners and staff after a 

well-deserved holiday. Several 

of our learners represented 

our school either overseas 

or at home in a number of 

activities. I extend a word of 

thanks to all our learners and 

staff who represented our 

school at the Curro 7’s. The 

feedback from all involved is 

very positive. I am proud to 

say that all our learners and 

staff conducted themselves 

as true ambassadors of 

our school and community. 

Congratulations to Jeanna 

Bissett and Jacques Mouton 

who performed so well at the 

World Championships in Los 

Angeles. Jeanna returned as 

Modeling Champion of the 

World and we congratulate 

her and her parents on this 

great achievement. Ruach 

Jacobsohn left for Europe on 

Saturday, 29 July where he 

will be representing South 

Africa in an International Air 

rifle shooting competition. We 

are so proud of our Protea 

team member! We are also 

very proud of five of our 

equestrian learners who have 

qualified for the Gauteng

I would like to remind all our 

mothers about the Hannes 

van Wyk Woman’s Evening 

on 23 August. We request that 

you book your seat for this 

special evening with Chantelle 

van Niekerk (chantelle.v@ 

curro.co.za). Please refer to 

the poster, which will be made 

available closer to the time, for 

more detail. 

We have attached the important 

dates for this term for your 

convenience. Please support 

our school and encourage the 

learners to take part in our 

extramural activities. 

Our high school rugby teams 

played in the Blue Bulls 

provincial finals on Friday here 

at Curro Roodeplaat. I am proud 

of their performance. Both 

teams were crowned Blue Bulls 

winners, as reward for their hard 

work. Our high school hockey 

team travelled to Polokwane 

to compete against Curro 

Heuwelkruin in the Noordvaal 

play-offs. Unfortunately they did 

not win but made us all proud 

with their effort. 

The new Operational head at 

the high school, Pieter van Wyk, 

has commenced with his duties 

as of 1 August. I wish Pieter well 

at Curro Roodeplaat. I would 

once again draw your attention 

to our lines of communication; 

please discuss problems with 

your child’s class teacher or 

phase head first. If you are 

not satisfied with the outcome, 

you are welcome to discuss 

the matter further with the 

Operational head of the school. 

After the intervention of the 

Operational head, if you are still 

not satisfied, you are welcome 

to make an appointment to see 

me. I would like to invite parents 

to discuss concerns and 

problems with the school. We, 

as stakeholders, should support 

each other in the upbringing of 

our young people. 

Discipline and a neat appearance 

are the cornerstones of our 

school. I urge you to make sure 

that your child wears the correct 

school uniform and that the 

uniform is neat and tidy. Sport 

attire may not be mixed with the 

school uniform. Discipline starts 

as soon as your child arrives 

at school, and as such I am 

concerned about the number of 

learners arriving late at school. 

School starts promptly at 07:45 

in the morning and I expect of all 

learners to be at school before 

then. In the future, we will be 

taking strong action against 

late-comers at school. 

I wish all our staff, learners and 

parents all the best for this term.
