STUDIO 13 ANNETTE MARIE
The visit to the Back Street First Wednesday
Art Walk found 4 new artists and one who
has had her gallery at the Back Street for
the past 13 years.
Annette Marie is a multi-talented creative
artist who does painting and jewelry
designing. Her gallery features paintings
from various periods of her career reflecting
back to her working with some of the
splatter painting techniques of which Jackson
Pollock is known. Most recently she
has been working with portraits reflecting
the struggle that women have endured in
gaining equality and freedom. In her own
words, she describes the portraits of women
she has created.
“In all of my paintings the eyes are remarkable
no matter what may be my criticisms,
be it technical, anatomical or otherwise.
They are remarkable expressions of human
sensitiveness.....serious questioning eyes
seem to ask, if there are some deep
sensations of life forgottin in the hurly-burly
business of living our lives. What
we need is more sense of wonder of life.”
Annette’s series of the “Veiled Women” she
says, conveys a distinctive interpretation of
life which speaks a universal language to
which everyone can respond.
Annette is one of the many world-class
artists we are fortunate to live in our community.
Her paintings are in the homes
of private collectors throughout the country.
