TRAVELLIVE MAGAZINE OCTOBER 2017

Dear readers, The concept of a “flat world” gives us an imagination that every border in the world is collapsed. I had an appointment
with Mrs. Lan Huong
in an autumn day
at Zen Spa (Tay Ho,
Hanoi), where its
owner described as "a
perfect space to meet
friends and for those,
who love Zen style".
The romantic ambiance
of the autumn and
the peaceful, refined
world of Zen brought
me a full feeling of
pleasure and comfort.
I seemed to forget
that I was talking to a
businesswoman, who
is leading her own
spa, one of the most
well-known spa brand
names in Vietnam.
nguyen Lan huong
Founder of Zen Spa
You were born on the special
Vietnamese Women's Day, October
20th, is it an interesting coincidence
with the business that you are running?
When I was young, I had a passion
for art and all the things related to
this field. I used to learn drama,
fashion design and run a business
related to beauty care. I joined a spa
course and got a spa certificate of
London in Malaysia. I also worked
for Beauty Concept International
company in Hong Kong before
I opened Zen Spa. While I was
developing Zen Spa system, I
realized that I was keen on home
däcor and setting.
Let's start talking about Zen Spa! Zen
Spa used to be strongly developed with
a chain of spas, why did you decide to
concentrate on the only one address as
present?
As you may know, Zen Spa has been
formed and developed for 15 years
with a chain of spas around famous
tourist cities, from Hanoi, Cat Ba
and Sapa to Hoi An and Danang.
My spas had been known by many
international visitors. However,
once day, I just realized many more
important things. For me, making
profits is not the most significant
element. After over 20 years
working in this field, I have had
many experiences and now I want to
invest my time in other values of life
that I think worthier than money.
That is the reason why I decided to
close other Zen spas to spend more
time for myself, think about new
experiences and learn how to share
with other people.
You might have specific reasons for this
decision when Zen was prosperously
developed. Could you please share us?
That's right. I used to have a major
change in life. It was like sudden
storms happening when the sky was
still blue that swept away all the best
things right in front of us. I was
frightened, pity and sorrowful, but
more importantly, I felt that I was
existing in this life. In fact, the sun
always shines after the storm. We
are the same. What would you do
after your house was collapsed by the
storm? You would surely reconstruct
a new house, which was big or small,
but more stable with fewer budgets.
At present, I'm at the lowest stage of
