The highest growth was observed for the<br />
65-69 year-old age group at 27.4% followed<br />
by residents aged 85 and over at 20.1%. The<br />
middle age groups <strong>in</strong> their 40s decl<strong>in</strong>ed by<br />
7.5% for 40-44 year-olds and 8% for 45-49<br />
year-olds. In contrast, younger adults aged<br />
25-29 <strong>in</strong>creased by 10% and aged 30-34 by<br />
11.6%. Toronto’s child and teen population<br />
showed little change over the past five<br />
years.<br />
Accord<strong>in</strong>g to the 2016 Census, the average<br />
age of Toronto’s population is 40.6 years old<br />
with the male average age at 39.4 years old<br />
and the female average age at 41.7 years<br />
old.<br />
