SOME PEOPLE get dealt terrible
hands in life and Josh Caldwell
McCausland is one of them.
Josh until recently was a
healthy teenager into the
outdoors. But one morning he
woke up with a sore neck.
That sore neck has developed
into something much more
serious – he has inflammation of
the spine, is in a wheelchair and
is a patient at St John of God in
Halswell.
Reporter Gabrielle Stuart went
to see him yesterday and reports
on this courageous young man
on page 1.
Gabrielle said Josh’s attitude
was “awesome”.
We wish him all the best in his
bid to beat his illness.
A little bit of Paris has come to
the central city (see page 3).
Car parking we know is at a
premium in the central city, like
in Paris, and most other cities in
the world.
Many apartments don’t come
with car parks so the marketing
gurus are offering a deal – buy
an apartment and a Vespa comes
with it.
Palmer (left) was appointed prime minister after
the resignation of David Lange. On August 9, 1840,
Captain Langlois in the Compte de Paris arrived
in Pigeon Bay with 63 French settlers. A day l ater
Captain Owen Stanley in HMS Britomart dashed
to Akaroa to raise the British flag to proclaim
sovereignty over the South Island. On August
10, 1932, the statue of Captain James Cook was
ROCKS FIRED
In the midst of gun crime on the rise
in Christchurch, armed robberies
becoming an almost a weekly
thing, residents are keeping an eye
out on suspicious noises in their
neighbourhood. Police responded on
Tuesday to a report of about 20 gunshots
in Bryndwr. Two units searched the area
and found the cause of the concern –
contractors loading a trailer with rocks.
Police say it should not deter people
phoning in with concerns they have in
their neighbourhood.
For all your blind repair and cleaning requirements
The Blind Care Company has been
cleaning and repairing the region’s blinds
for over 60 years. Those six decades
have seen changes in both fashion and
technology. Styles have ranged from
festooned fabric swags to straightforward
and still popular holland roller blinds,
from vertical to horizontal slat systems,
and in every colour or pattern popular
since the 1960s.
Whatever your style, the Blind Care
Company has the expertise to keep your
window treatments looking fresh and
working efficiently. Using only ecofriendly
chemicals, the build-up of dirt,
dust, grease, nicotine and smoke residue
can be removed so that your blinds
smell fresh and are restored to their
original glory. The company can repair
blinds also, having a huge range of parts
with most work taking one or two
days, and a same day cleaning option is
available. It makes it as easy as possible
for clients. The Cashel Street location
couldn’t be more convenient and a pickup
50 per day. That means they will come to
your home or office, remove and clean
your blinds on the spot and reinstall them
for you.
