PERMITTED TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION
Under Clause 7(3)(a) of the Canterbury Earthquake
(Resource Management Act Permitted Activities) Order 2011
Despite anything to the contrary in the Christchurch City Plan, the activities listed below
are permitted activities in the specified locations if they comply with the prescribed
standards:
1. ACTIVITY: Temporary Office Accommodation
LOCATION: 18 Hume St, Sydenham

STANDARDS:
1. The activity must proceed in general accordance with the information submitted
to the Council on 7 July 2016.
2. The office activity and residential use must cease on or before 30 June 2021.
3. The office hours will be limited to 7.00am till 10.00pm Monday to Friday.
4. As of the 30 June 2021 the Temporary Office is to be converted back to that of a
complying residential use.
2. ACTIVITY: Taylors Mistake Surf Lifesaving Club
LOCATION: Taylors Mistake Beach opposite 229 Taylors Mistake Road,

STANDARDS:
1. The activity must proceed in general accordance with the information submitted
to the Council on 13 July 2016.
2. Access to the temporary portacom buildings is to be limited to a 2.4m wide
access from the side public beach access.
3. The portacoms and deck must be placed on piles to minimise the resurfacing of
the dunes.
4. With the exception of the proposed location, the activity must comply with
the general Standard 15 (Upon cessation of the temporary use or the expiry
of the time limit under the Canterbury Earthquake (Resource Management Act
Permitted Activities) Order 2011, the site must be remediated to its original
state and be left clean and tidy) and general standard 18 (the activity must
not create any significant adverse effects (relating, but not limited to, noise,
dust, mud, light spill, odour, traffic generation, refuse disposal, animal control
and visual amenity) that will, in the opinion of a Council Enforcement Officer
or Environmental Health Officer, cause nuisance for occupiers of surrounding
sites).
The general Standards for Permitted Temporary Accommodation and Temporary Depots
and Storage Facilities can be viewed on the Temporary Accommodation page of the
Council’s website at www.ccc.govt.nz/tempaccomm.
Any temporary activity established under these provisions shall not create or give rise
to any existing use right in respect of any land, activity, or structure (refer clause 5(3)
of the Canterbury Earthquake (Resource Management Act Permitted Activities) Order
2011).
