CONSULTATION ON<br />

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS<br />

TO THE FREEDOM<br />

CAMPING BYLAW<br />

Christchurch City Council is proposing to amend its<br />

Freedom Camping Bylaw 2015, and is inviting public<br />

submissions on these amendments.<br />

<strong>The</strong> bylaw amendments:<br />

• Prohibit all non-self-contained freedom camping<br />

throughout the Christchurch City Council District<br />

(which includes Banks Peninsula).<br />

• Allow certified self-contained camping without a<br />

time restriction in rural zones.<br />

• Prohibits all freedom camping in Lower Styx River<br />

carpark, the Windsport Park car park, Addington<br />

Reserve car park, part of French Farm foreshore<br />

and part of Wainui foreshore. (<strong>The</strong>se areas are<br />

currently temporarily closed to freedom camping.)<br />

Anyone can make a submission.<br />
