TAX ASSESSOR /<br />
TAX COMMISSIONER<br />
The <strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Assessors are appointed to<br />
fixed terms as defined by state law. They are charged<br />
with the responsibility of establishing the fair market<br />
value of property for ad valorem taxation purposes.<br />
The Tax Assessor's office incorporated a new Mobile<br />
Assessor program which allows the staff to work more<br />
efficiently while in the field.<br />
In <strong>2017</strong>, the Board was responsible for the following:<br />
39,603 residential properties valued at<br />
$3,477,829,985.00<br />
3,909 agricultural properties valued at $598,986,377.00<br />
2,964 commercial properties valued at $985,938,047.00<br />
256 industrial properties valued at $295,384,125.00<br />
93 public utility properties valued at $974,281,436.00<br />
The Board reviewed 636 real property appeals, 128<br />
personal property appeals, and 38 automobile appeals.<br />
In <strong>2017</strong>, the <strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong> Tax Commissioner's office<br />
entered their second year using the Thomson Reuters<br />
VCS Tax system.<br />
