TAX ASSESSOR / TAX COMMISSIONER The Floyd County Board of Assessors are appointed to fixed terms as defined by state law. They are charged with the responsibility of establishing the fair market value of property for ad valorem taxation purposes. The Tax Assessor's office incorporated a new Mobile Assessor program which allows the staff to work more efficiently while in the field. In 2017, the Board was responsible for the following: 39,603 residential properties valued at $3,477,829,985.00 3,909 agricultural properties valued at $598,986,377.00 2,964 commercial properties valued at $985,938,047.00 256 industrial properties valued at $295,384,125.00 93 public utility properties valued at $974,281,436.00 The Board reviewed 636 real property appeals, 128 personal property appeals, and 38 automobile appeals. In 2017, the Floyd County Tax Commissioner's office entered their second year using the Thomson Reuters VCS Tax system. 16 2017 FLOYD COUNTY ANNUAL REPORT

BUILDING INSPECTION Building Inspection is one of the many departments that works jointly for Floyd County and the City of Rome. In 2017, the Rome Floyd Building Inspection department permitted 125 new homes in the unincorporated Floyd County. This was a 38.4% increase from 2016. They performed 5,715 inspections in 2017 in the unincorporated County which was an increase of 29.3%.
