“Artful Living”
In Your Home
very year, Architectural Digest devotes
an issue to art in the home. Of
course, this extraordinary publication
features the most beautiful homes in
the world, but their message is quite simple...
Use art to enhance your home; to create a mood; to make a
statement about yourself. Art is one of the easiest ways to
enhance and personalize your home. Whether you’re a senior
like me who’s trying to simplify our home and eliminate clutter
or a new retiree who’s moving to the next chapter of his
life, this is the perfect time to commemorate the event with a
new art piece.
And don’t forget to select a subject matter that demonstrates
your special interests. Whether it’s travel, boating,
outdoors, sports, your favorite flowers or hobbies, the painting
you select tells us about you and what you like. Plus the
colors that attracted you to your new painting or artwork can
be used like a color chart to help you redecorate or spruce up
a room or an entire house.
Your new painting becomes
your home’s new focal point.
Imagine your new painting
over a sofa with pillows in
complementary colors on
adjacent chairs; or in your
dining room with flowers
and placemats set on your
table; or over your bed with
contrasting linens…Well,
you get the picture.
A large painting
is a natural focal
point. But if you have
smaller pieces of art to display, group them together to add
importance to your collection. And add family keepsakes and
photos, to make your arrangement really unique. For example,
I’m considering putting together a wall grouping of some of
my Dad’s miniature drawings and the awards he won. But I
have a problem... How much space it will take to display over
a hundred awards?
The paintings shown here are by Crystal’s Dad, the award
winning artist Victor Czerkas, the only known private student of
the great Russian impressionist, Nicolai Fechin. Want more info?
We’d be delighted to arrange a private showing...
CBD’s & Neuro Disorders
By: Dr. Victoria Boyd
CBD and your body communicate via what has
been identified as CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1
receptors regulate the brain and nervous system, while
CB2 regulates your immune system.
Neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson, Huntington and
Alzheimer diseases, and Neuropathy associated with conditions such as
diabetes, lupus and fibromyalgia are highly impacted by the support CBD
can provide to those suffering from these conditions. Cannabidiol acts as
a natural anti-inflammatory and potent antioxidant, which makes it the
perfect cocktail for neurodegeneration disorders and neuropathy.
Neurodegeneration refers to several conditions that result in
the loss of nerve structure and function. This deterioration gradually
causes a loss of cognitive and motor abilities impacting memory and
movement. Neurodegeneration is a key aspect of many diseases, however
it is generally associated with Parkinson, Huntington and Alzheimer
diseases.
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS), your bodies gatekeeper, and
digestive imbalance play major roles in Parkinson’s Disease (PD).
PD presents itself with motor control impairment after the loss of 60-
80% of dopamine-producing neurons in a critical brain region. Research
demonstrated that CBD may help to manage PD symptoms and
regenerate some of the brain’s neurons.
Neuropathy is not one single disease. Unfortunately, around 20
million people experience peripheral neuropathy, caused by as many
as 100 diseases - including diabetes, endocrine diseases, some cancers,
kidney disease, and autoimmune diseases such as lupus.
This condition impacts the nerve cells in our arms and legs (peripheral
neuropathy) causing constant pain, tingling, numbness, balance
problems, temperature sensitivity, and sensitivity or pain from touching
objects. These facts illustrate just how serious neuropathy can be.
If you have neuropathy from diabetes, autoimmune diseases, or other
sources, you might consider CBD as a daily supplement. Conventional
treatments such as anti-inflammatory drugs, opioid painkillers,
antidepressants, and other powerful medications, may mask the pain,
but don’t work on the cause.
In addition, unfortunately, these drugs don’t work for 42% of those
impacted. The good news is using CBD as a daily supplement, its antiinflammatory
and antioxidant power could benefit and help relieve
pain, reverse damage and often prevent it all together.
Fibromyalgia another chronic pain disorder, causes musculoskeletal
pain, fatigue and cognitive issues. A 2009 study published in the US
National Library of Medicine, and two additional studies found that CBD
can relieve inflammatory and neuropathic pain from nerve injury and
relieve some of the cognitive issues.
