KURC Member Makes A Century!
On 27th
January, Neil
Thomson
of Bridge of
Weir wowed
the crowds
at Greenock
Esplanade,
when he
finished his
100th Parkrun
just days after
his 70th birthday. The Kilmacolm Unofficial Running Club, of
which he is a member, were there in droves waving banners
and balloons! Neil has completed 78 parkruns at Greenock,
with the other 22 taking place at Linwood, Pollock, Inverness,
Bideford and Leamington. He completed 32 parkruns this
year alone, almost always getting first in his age category.
Neil is proof that fitness goals can be achieved no matter
what age you are! So get out there, folks and give it a go.
Kilmacolm Golf Club - Ladies
On 6th February, the Annual Charity Bridge Afternoon in aid of Erskine Hospital raised
an amazing £815.
We had 18 Tables for Bridge with 72 ladies playing, followed by a delicious afternoon
tea, raffle and prize giving. Our bridge ladies said it was the “best afternoon tea they
had tasted at Kilmacolm”; well done and thanks to our wonderful kitchen staff.
Lesley Davidson won first prize (along with a lot of raffle prizes!), followed by Alison
Scott in second, Alison Livingston in third and Elaine Hardie was in fourth place; very
well done Ladies. This successful fundraiser has been in our social calendar for nearly
50 years and
long may it
continue.
Many thanks
for everyone’s
support again
and of course
to the Ladies
Committee
