City Councilor Thomas<br />
Gould is hosting his annual<br />
St. Patrick’s Day Roast<br />
and Breakfast on Saturday,<br />
March 17 at Peabody City<br />
Hall.<br />
The annual event will feature<br />
Irish music from Leahy<br />
and Tobin and the presentation<br />
of the Irish Person of the<br />
Year Award to Marie Bishop.<br />
The event runs from 9 a.m.<br />
to 11 p.m. and tickets are $35<br />
per person. All proceeds from<br />
the event benefit the Haven<br />
from Hunger.<br />
In its first five years,<br />
the event has raised over<br />
$<strong>15</strong>,000 for Haven from Hunger.<br />
Haven from Hunger provides<br />
over 1,800 households<br />
with fresh fruits and vegetables,<br />
meat, dairy, and canned<br />
goods.<br />
In addition to the food,<br />
music, awards, and fundraising,<br />
local politicians poke<br />
good-natured fun at each other<br />
during the roast portion of<br />
the morning.<br />
Last year, State Representative<br />
Tom Walsh pulled<br />
a couple of homemade milk<br />
cartons out of a bag, complete<br />
with “missing” photos<br />
of Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt,<br />
who couldn’t make the<br />
event.<br />
