The west of Christchurch has seen an exponential increase in
residential sub-divisions over the last few years, with developers
creating new places for people to live, bring up their families,
and enjoy the benefits of moving into a brand-new home
at an affordable price.
Karamu, Riccarton Park, is a new subdivision in Upper Riccarton
being developed by Ngãi Tahu Property. It is located
next to Riccarton Racecourse, between Yaldhurst Road and
Steadman Road.
Whilst situated conveniently close to town, the developers
say, Karamu also has the added bonus of a park-like feel with a
rural outlook towards the Alps.
Manakura, the subdivision’s first neighbourhood, was released
in October 2017. Sections were in high demand and sold
quickly. It is anticipated that four further stages, with sections
of varying size and price, will be developed over the next five
years. Offering homes for every stage of life – first-home buyers,
people looking to downsize or upscale, and retirees, when
complete, Riccarton Park, will be home to around 1600 people.
With construction well underway on the first and second
releases of the Rolleston sub-division Falcon’s Landing, the
developers Gillman Wheelans have recently announced the
third release.
Falcon’s Landing is situated off Lincoln-Rolleston Road and
Branthwaite Drive, with sections ranging in size from 432sqm
to 930sqm and prices starting from $156,000.
One of a number of the company’s developments in the
Selwyn District, and comprising around 600 residentially zoned
sections, Falcon’s Landing will incorporate reserves throughout
the area, with established trees and part of a hazelnut orchard
being retained and an edible garden being established.
Rolleston has grown significantly since the Canterbury earthquakes,
and to cater for the hundreds of families living there, it
now has a secondary school, Rolleston College, and a number
of primary schools, while the commute to and from many destinations
across the district and into Christchurch is becoming
quicker with the upgraded motorways, Gillman Wheelans
director Hamish Wheelans says.

The breakfast menu features all the classic

steak sandwich, while choices at dinner include
the Canterbury Farmed Sirloin or the house
specialty, Trio of Pork.
Desserts such as the White Chocolate Mousse
or a daily selection of Macaroons will please
the sweetest tooth.
