Sadly the crisis in this
country continues to deepen
and Remus remains
concerned re the apathy
and red tape that seems to
get in the way of helping
them. There needs to be
new updated legislation
that is enforceable for all
sectors of the community.
Horses are suffering dying and being thrown out to take their
chances on the busy roads. Last month two youngsters were
loose in Aveley. One was killed and two were killed in Tilbury
and we rescued a foal recently at a cost of over £1000 to the
Sanctuary for specialist vets with tranquilliser dart equipment.
The Government need to see horse welfare as a bigger priority
and make laws adequate and enforceable and must debate
tethering of horses. It seems awful that in a world where we can
send men to the moon that we can allow gregarious sentient

Open Days at the Sanctuary
The first Open Day of the season,
will be Sunday 3 June.
1:00pm - 5:00pm with an entrance fee just
£4 for Adults and £2 for Children
As well as our 200+ animals including horses, ponies, donkeys,
two cows, sheep, goats and cats, we offer a variety of
competitions and games to entertain the whole family, along
with music from Midnite Blu. Refreshments are available all
afternoon including sandwiches and delicious cakes (including
many gluten-free). Plus, we have many stalls selling gifts, books,
bric-a-brac and a great raffle.

Entry is just £4 for adults and £2 for children payable on arrival,
with a discount upon presentation of your membership or
sponsorship card, if relevant.
Please note that the ground can be uneven, subject to the
weather. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet and, if required,
disabled parking is available near to the yard. Dogs are welcome
on a lead. If the weather is very wet the days prior to the event,
then please double check with Remus, either by telephone
(01277 356191) or Facebook, that we will be able to open!
As you can imagine, it takes a lot to organise a public event such
