All Aboard!
Lisbon, Portugal made their debut as hosts for Eurovision Song
Contest 2018 and it was another great experience of music and
culture. The "All Aboard!" theme welcomes all the countries
across the oceans together through Lisbon's history and love of
the seas.
The show was a mix of beauty, passion, oddness, boredom, wow
moments and much more. Here are my highlights...
Lithuania's performance of ‘When We’re Old’ by Ieva
Zasimauskaitė was very simple and pretty. Her delicate persona
takes us through as she gains confidence, the track progresses
to show deeper passion.
Estonia - WOW! A stunning opera voice, simply breathtaking
with ‘La Forza’ by Elina Nechayeva. She wears an incredible
dress with a sparkly bodice, but the real amazement of this
garment is the entire lower portion being covered with intricate
lighting by projectors which changes as an accompanying piece
itself throughout the performance.
Portugal's entry of ‘O Jardim’ by Cláudia Pascoal is a nice and
soft song, rather sweet and modest.
United Kingdom's performance of ‘Storm’ by SuRie is upbeat
and really quite catchy that it gets the crowd singing.
Serbia brings ‘Nova Deca’ by Sanja Ilić & Balkanika with a nice
mellow Arabian vibe to the show and a modern vocal pairing,
they then turn up the tempo to get you dancing.
France's ‘Mercy’ by Madame Monsieur entry is very trendy &
chic with a heartfelt story. Hungary refreshes us with a great bit
of gnarly rock of ‘Viszlát Nyár’ by AWS.
Israel's ’TOY’ by Netta performance is super catchy and modern.
She is a very quirky character and has the crowd loving her
unique and fun vibe.
