launches direct flights between Bangkok and<br />
Kaohsiung. Here are some must-see spots in the<br />

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas<br />
This pair of Chinese-style pagodas provides<br />
a beautiful view of the lake. Aside from its<br />
architectural details, it is also a welcomed<br />
recreational space for both locals and tourists.<br />
Dome of Light<br />
Located at Formosa Boulevard Station, the Dome<br />
of Light is a brilliant art installation by Italian<br />
artist Narcissus Quagliata. It tells the history of the<br />
universe through water, earth, light and fire.<br />
Fo Guang Shan Temple<br />
Considered to be one of the first Buddhist temples<br />
in Taiwan, this Mahayana temple is characterised<br />
by its eight pagodas. At the far end is a large Buddha<br />
image, well admired by locals and travellers.<br />
Former British Consulate at Takao<br />
The Former British Consulate is not only notable<br />
for its architecture and symbolism as a historic<br />
link between Taiwan and Britain, but it also<br />
provides a spectacular view. Visitors can enjoy a<br />
nearly endless vista of the sea and sky.<br />
Liuhe Night Market<br />
Shoppers should not miss the Liuhe Night Market.<br />
Famed for its fashion, collectibles and souvenirs,<br />
it’s also a great place for street food. As the<br />
location is close to the ocean, delicious seafood is<br />
readily available at reasonable prices.<br />
Pier 2 Arts Center<br />
Once an abandoned warehouse, Pier 2 Arts Center<br />
is now a renovated chic sculpture and graffiti<br />
inspired art scene with cafes, fashion markets and<br />
secondhand shops. In addition, there’s an enjoyable<br />
bike path to see all the art pieces.<br />
Cijin Island<br />
Located not far from Kaohsiung, Cijin Island is a<br />
popular weekend spot for locals. The island is<br />
famous for a beach road full of delicious restaurants<br />
that has gained the nickname ‘Seafood Street’.
