heavy, snow so, camped on ridge below.<br />

The buildings below are his Offices.<br />

Index Card 448 This old tree stands <strong>to</strong>day near the <strong>Donner</strong> Monument. And plainly<br />

shows the feable marks <strong>of</strong> axe in the hand os some member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

starving dieing Reed-<strong>Donner</strong> <strong>Party</strong>.<br />

Mr. Graves personily found the axe used at the foot <strong>of</strong> this tree<br />

many years after (Marked Tree)<br />
