other side <strong>of</strong> this hill was where tragedy <strong>to</strong>ok place.<br />

French trader who traded oxen with immigrants and pine nuts with<br />

Indians. He obtained somehow oxen and cows and horses that at<br />

one sale brought him $65,000 in Sacramen<strong>to</strong> Valley. He was<br />

supposed <strong>to</strong> have killed many immigrants.<br />
