FIRE SAFETY
Hochiki celebrates 100 years
Hochiki Corporation is celebrating its 100th birthday this
year, making it the oldest life safety system manufacturer in
the world. Over the last century, the company has lead the
way in the design and manufacture of innovative life safety
systems and the business has come to be recognised as a
benchmark for integrity and reliability
The ACD-EN features a
unique combination of
technologies which
mean the product
automatically begins
to adjust its
sensitivity based on
its surroundings from
the moment it is
installed
www.hochikieurope.com
ochiki Europe will be celebrating the
Hoccasion at this year’s FIREX, hosting a
VIP lounge and showcasing several of its
most recently developed smart solutions. The
leading manufacturer of life safety systems will
be on stand A355 at the ExCeL London, from 19 –
21 June.
The company’s milestone year also marks the
release of Hochiki Europe’s most advanced
multi-sensor ever, the ACD-EN. The new product
offers life safety designers and installers 24 ENapproved
modes of operation incorporating
smoke, heat and carbon monoxide (CO)
detection to suit a multitude of environments.
Superior CO detection
The ACD-EN features an integrated CO detection
cell to enhance its rapid response to fire and, at
10 years, has one of the longest cell lifespans of
any similar product currently available in the
marketplace.
Hochiki Europe’s launch of the new sensor
follows a sector report released recently by the
Fire Industry Association (FIA) which gives
conclusive evidence showing multi-sensor
detectors are better at false alarm rejection. The
report, which was conducted by the FIA in
conjunction with the Building Research
Establishment, and its findings have been
endorsed by Hochiki Europe.
False alarm reduction
Over the last decade, most recorded fire
incidents in Britain have been false alarms,
costing the UK taxpayer more than a billion
pounds each year. The ACD-EN features a
unique combination of technologies which mean
the product automatically begins to adjust its
sensitivity based on its surroundings from the
moment it is installed. Through this constant
monitoring of the environment, the sensor
actively minimises the potential for false alarms.
The ACD-EN is the latest addition to Hochiki
Europe’s world-proven ESP intelligent sensor
range – a group of ultra-reliable products
designed to be easy to install, maintain and
operate. Hochiki Europe’s other innovations,
including FIREscape+ and LEAKalarm, will also
be on display at this year’s FIREX.
FIREscape+ is a unique, combined fire
detection and emergency lighting system that
features ‘way finding’ technology. The
revolutionary product has been created to save
users time and money, while also protecting the
safety of building occupants.
LEAKalarm offers end-users the latest in
water detection technology, intended to
mitigate the risks to electrical systems or other
environments susceptible to water leaks.
Tracy Kirk, General Manager Sales and
Marketing, at Hochiki Europe commented: “Over
the last century, Hochiki has led the way in the
design and manufacture of world-class life
safety systems and our company has come to be
recognised as one that is synonymous with
integrity and reliability.
“We understand the important role we play
in supporting the industry with education and
training. At this year’s FIREX, we’d love to hear
from everyone who’s interested in the latest
issues in the life safety sector or who’s
interested in learning about our new products
and services.
“We would also really like to meet some end
users. In today’s complex life safety landscape,
it’s important that duty holders take a hands-on
approach, understand the technology available
to them and understand their legal obligations
as building owners – all of which we can help
them with.”
