FIRE SAFETY Answering the Call for Integrity and Reliability in Fire System Applications – Self-Policing Dame Judith Hackett’s recent report on The Grenfell Disaster has laid bare the significant and potentially dangerous variations in quality of fire safety installations and the skill sets of those that install fire protection equipment. he regulatory framework for fire safety has been under the Tspotlight, in particular the question of third party certification for fire system designers. While Dame Judith’s report stops short of calling for mandatory certification, some form of independent qualifications will undoubtedly become best practice and routinely insisted upon by specifiers.
