PLEDGE FOR SOCIAL WORKERS
I pledge to :
• Recognise the uniqueness of each client;
• Maintain a professional relationship with the client;
• Acknowledge the reight to self determination of the client;
• Take into account the client’s right, preferences and objectives when structuring
service-rendering even in the absence of the client;
• Strive towards the client’s optimal use of his or her abilities;
• Respect the client’s right to decide or to co-operate with the social service;
• Maintain the client’s right to confidentiality
• To inform the client of and prepare him or her of any decision regarding the
termination of service rendering.
DECLARATION FOR CLINICAL ASSOCIATES
“I do solemnly declare that, as a graduate of the Clinical Associate Program of the
Walter Sisulu University, I will exercise my profession to the best of my knowledge
and ability for the good of all persons whose health may be placed in my care and for
the public good; that I will not knowingly or intentionally do anything or administer
anything to any person to their hurt or prejudice for any consideration or motive
whatsoever; that I will hold in due regard the honourable obligations of the medical
profession, and will do nothing inconsistent therewith; and I do also declare that I
will keep silence about those things, which I have seen or heard while visiting the
sick, which ought not to be divulged; and I do further declare that I will be loyal to
my university and endeavour to promote its welfare and maintain its traditions.”
