Computation of Marks<br />
All marks shall be expressed as percentages and those which, up on computation yield fractions<br />
shall be raised to the first integer. The assessment program, and its format as well as test dates<br />
shall be communicated to the candidates timeously throughout the year.<br />
The continuous assessment mark for the semester/year will be computed using the tests,<br />
assignments, practical and other academic activities as determined by the department<br />
concerned for prescribed courses and will be informed to the students timeously.<br />
Final mark for the course will be computed using the continuous assessment mark for the<br />
semester/year and the exam mark in 60:40 ratio (continuous assessment contributing 60% and<br />
final exam contributing 40%.<br />
Supplementary examination<br />
Candidates who fail to obtain a pass in the prescribed course but obtain a combined mark of<br />
not less than 45% may be permitted by <strong>senate</strong> to present him/herself for a supplementary<br />
examination. Final supplementary marks will be computed using combined year/semester<br />
(60%) and supplementary examination (40%).<br />
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BIOCHEMISTRY<br />
The programme is designed to provide sound advanced knowledge in biochemistry for graduates<br />
with honours in chemical sciences to pursue further training in biochemistry.<br />
Recognition of Prior Learning<br />
Honours degree in biochemistry or equivalent.<br />
