Maverick Marktpreis: Porsche Values
by Peter Wen
It’s no secret that air-cooled 911s have been gaining value
in recent years. With the 993 (the last air-cooled generation)
hogging the spotlight, you may have missed the meteoric rise
of a particular group of 911 Carreras . . . Super Carreras,
that is.
The Super Carrera, or SC, was produced from ’78 to ’83, in
the middle of the second-generation 911. 911 SCs, in this socalled
impact-bumper generation, have enjoyed an incredible
run up in value over the last five years. The SC coupes in
particular have doubled in value across the board from fairconditioned
daily drivers to show winners. Targas have also
shown significant gains, with a range of about 55 to 65%.
The SC Cabriolet, the first 911 convertible ever, reported a
more modest gain, between 15 and 30%. A total of 57,890
SCs were produced.
Excellence magazine’s Porsche Buyer’s Guide offered these
price ranges:
SC Coupe (‘78-‘83) - $20,000-$47,000
