Swift take-up for Harbour Commander<br />

Over the past few months, the team at Croatia-based Marex Elektrostroj has been concentrating on fine tuning the<br />

development of its all-new Harbour Commander system. Claimed to elevate the management of electricity and water in<br />

marinas to a whole new level, the product is now available in two versions.<br />

Harbour Commander measures the<br />

electricity and water used by each<br />

individual boating customer and allows<br />

payment to be made in advance or<br />

after usage. <strong>Marina</strong>s can opt for either<br />

an Online or Offline version to best suit<br />

their requirements.<br />

In the Online version, all the power<br />

pedestals are connected with the<br />

marina office and the current status<br />

of every unit can be viewed on an<br />

interactive map. This is backed up<br />

by a database containing details of<br />

the consumption of individual users<br />

(the user identifies himself with an<br />

RFID card), information about each<br />

of the connectors, and alarms and<br />

status checks for the condition of<br />

the equipment. The system can<br />

also generate email notifications or<br />

warnings, connect to cash register<br />

software, automatically change to<br />

one of many different languages and<br />

remotely control all pedestals.<br />

Harbour Commander Offline, by<br />

contrast, is entirely autonomous. The<br />

user identifies himself with an RFID<br />

card that holds information on the<br />

amount of credit available. Credit levels<br />

can be checked at any pedestal as the<br />

system measures usage per person/<br />

card and not per pedestal. The credit<br />

reading is protected using a secure<br />

algorithm and any unused amounts can<br />

be refunded to the customer.<br />

The new system is already provoking<br />

interest on Marex’s home market.<br />

ACI <strong>Marina</strong> Šimuni, <strong>Marina</strong> Agana, ACI<br />

<strong>Marina</strong> Piškera and ACI <strong>Marina</strong> Rab.<br />

Maricer’s growth in the global market gained significant pace in the third quarter of this year with projects in Australia,<br />

the Falkland Islands and Dubai.<br />

Australia, became a returning customer.<br />

Happy with the quality and performance<br />

of the installed pedestals, the marina<br />

ordered a further 20 units.<br />

It is unusual for power pedestal<br />

manufacturers to secure orders in<br />

the Falkland Islands but Maricer was<br />

contracted to manufacture and supply<br />

ten bespoke pedestals for a project<br />

in Port Stanley. The client asked for a<br />

‘hybrid’ product that offers distribution of<br />

metered power to remote points and at<br />

pedestal source via socket outlets.<br />

In the Middle East, Maricer won<br />

a noteworthy order for the newly<br />

refurbished Jebel Ali Beach Hotel &<br />

Golf Resort in Dubai. Europa pedestals<br />

with a striking silver anodised matt<br />

finish were selected for the new 80-<br />

berth marina that caters for vessels up<br />

to 45m (148ft) in length.<br />

Installation at Jebel Ali was carried<br />

out by one of Maricer’s two-man teams<br />

who were sent from the UK to work with<br />

the support of Maricer’s Dubai-based<br />

partners. <strong>Marina</strong> manager, Andy Savill,<br />

was impressed with the result. “The<br />

support provided by Maricer throughout<br />

the design and build process was<br />

excellent, with all involved being great<br />

ambassadors for their company,” he<br />

said.<br />

positively about the mood in the UK<br />

company. “With the completion of<br />

Jebel Ali <strong>Marina</strong> and two further large<br />

overseas projects currently on our<br />

order books, these are really exciting<br />

times,” he noted. “Being awarded these<br />

prestigious projects further enhances<br />

our presence as a true global supplier<br />
