Gr<strong>and</strong> Guignol. High drama, constructed around a sensational<br />

theme. The term comes from the Théâtre du Gr<strong>and</strong> Guignol in<br />

Paris, where such plays were in vogue in the last years of the<br />

nineteenth century.<br />
