Van Gogh nach
Deutschland
Im Städel Museum laufen die Vorbereitungen
für eine kapitale Sonderausstellung
auf Hochtouren. Vom
23. Oktober 2019 bis zum 16. Februar
2020 zeigt das Frankfurter Museum
eine umfassende Ausstellung zu einem
der berühmtesten Künstler der Welt:
Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890). Die
bis dato größte und aufwendigste Präsentation
in der Geschichte des Städel
thematisiert die besondere Rolle, die
deutsche Galeristen, Sammler, Kritiker
und Museen für die Erfolgsgeschichte
des Vorreiters der modernen
Malerei spielten. Zum anderen wird
die entscheidende Rolle van Goghs
als Vorbild für die Kunst des deutschen
Expressionismus beleuchtet. Zu sehen
sein werden etwa 140 Gemälde und
Arbeiten auf Papier, darunter über 45
zentrale Werke von van Gogh.

are in full swing for a special exhibition.
From October 23, 2019 to February
16, 2020, the Frankfurt Museum is
going to show a comprehensive exhibition
on one of the world’s most famous artists:
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890).
The largest and most elaborate presentation
in the history of the Städel to date
will address the special role played by
German gallery owners, collectors, critics
and museums in the success story of the
pioneer of modern painting. The decisive
role of van Gogh as a role model for the
art of German Expressionism will also be
highlighted.
Some 140 paintings and works on paper
will be on display, including over 45 central
works by van Gogh.
