3. GIVING IT BACK
What to give the person who has everything.
Christmas is the time to give back, so if you’re
looking for a gift for the person who already has
it all, why not donate to charity on their behalf?
It’s definitely something we should all be doing
far more often. When I was a child my parents
adopted a panda for me, and though it took
them a while to successfully explain that said
panda wouldn’t be moving in with me, it was
undoubtedly the gift that I remember most fondly.
Charitable gifts can come in many forms; from
donating to a crisis to buying a goat or chicken for
a family less fortunate. And hey, who needs that
new loofah anyway?
2. THE MORNING AFTER
Don’t let Christmas spirits get the better of you.
So, perhaps you got a little bit too merry at your
Christmas party and you have to attend a festive lunch
with the in-laws the day after, regardless of how dusty
you’re feeling. We’ve got you covered.
When it comes to hangovers, prevention is the key,
so fill your bellies up before exclaiming ‘bottoms up’
– now is the time to indulge in greasy foods, so tuck
in. Then, once the Mumm starts flowing, ensure you
gulp a glass of water in between each flute. If, when
the sun comes up you’re still feeling rough, try sipping
some coconut water to rehydrate, get your blood
sugar levels back up with some fruit juice and, if things
are looking truly dire, head back to bed because time
cures everything, right?
4. GET GLOWING
Great skin doesn’t occur miraculously.
Given the indulgent foods and copious amounts
of alcohol we consume during party season, it’s
little wonder our skin suffers a great deal. But
don’t panic, you can still party until the small
hours and look fresh-faced in time for breakfast.
Drinking plenty of water will not only help with the
hangover but will help with your skin too, so drink
up. Alcohol will dehydrate your skin, so slap on
your favourite moisturiser and allow to set for 30
minutes before applying make-up.
No matter how jolly you get, it’s imperative to
remove your make-up properly after a night out;
micellar water works wonders, even on sensitive
skin. Still feeling a little bit puffy faced after a night
on the town? A quartz roller that’s been kept
in the fridge overnight feels just heavenly and
will help with the absorption of any skin-saving
products. Just make sure you explain to your other
half that it’s not edible.
