1. The naughty list
Reserve your very, very little black dress for New Year’s
Eve.
Without coming across as a bit of a Grinch, let us quickly
touch base on what items of clothing should be avoided
when it comes to picking an outfit for the office party. Mrs
Claus outfits and long stripy elf socks simply aren’t applicable,
so leave them in the attic because Christmas is the time to
look chic – not comedic.
Usually when outfits fail us, we take great comfort in
the fact we can always rely on our trusty little black dress.
However, our go-to number just isn’t appropriate for a
professional environment, so outfit preparation is the key.
The office
Christmas
party
How to look the part in an outfit that will
be memorable for all the right reasons.
Words Ella James
As soon as utterances of the office Christmas party are
heard, many questions begin to arise. How many glasses
of alcohol is too many? How late is too late? Each year you
promise yourself you won’t get to the same sorry state as
you did at last year’s soiree, yet…
While we can’t stop you and your colleagues from
misbehaving, we can ensure you look truly angelic in your
get-up with these four rules for office celebrations.
2. Follow suit
Give the CEO a run for his money.
We’ve been fangirling over Cara Delevingne
ever since the super model rocked a full suit to
Princess Eugenie’s wedding, and we’ve taken
note. Suits are giving the traditional party frock a
run for its money, and we’re thrilled about it.
Whilst Cara rocked all black, the market is
saturated with coloured suits that have certainly
taken our fancy for the festive period. The key
to a show-stopping suit is making sure it fits
like a glove; trousers are best high-waisted and
tapered at the ankle, whilst the jacket should
cinch at the waist without looking too snug on
the shoulders. Underneath, a contrasting blouse
or even fitted T-shirt will do just the trick. Cara’s
top hat is, of course, optional.
