AI – Curse or Blessing?
Experts agree that a turning point has been
reached in the history of technology and thus of mankind.
However, there is disagreement as to whether this is a
good or a bad thing. Only the future can show that. But
we should not wait for it, but take an active part in its
development. Artificial intelligence – AI for short – is on
the rise and cannot be stopped. Anyone who does not
march along is quickly left behind. But in
order to determine the future, you have to
master the technology. AIs can already do
quite a lot now. They can detect skin cancer
just as well and faster than medical specialists,
and they are true masters in optimizing
processes. In the future, they are supposed
to learn even more – independently. This is
what distinguishes AI from earlier programs: it is no longer
necessary to program every detail manually, AI can
extrapolate. It was this ability that inspired Elon Musk
to create a horror scenario in which a learning machine
harvests strawberries and ultimately destroys the civilization
by recognizing the spread of strawberry fields as the
most effective way to accomplish its task. The German
researcher Jürgen Schmidhuber – a luminary in the field
of AI – on the other hand is much more optimistic about
the future. He regards the learning machines not as a
threat but as an opportunity, as a huge potential and as a
helper for mankind, who relieves us of routine tasks and
also more and thus makes our life easier. But where are
the limits? And who determines them? Whose morality
serves as a yardstick? Answering the ethical questions
that arise in connection with AI will probably take longer
than the development of technology, which we urgently
need to catch up with in order to be able to exert moral
influence. Europe is doing well in basic research and
mechanical engineering. Politicians must move and use
the potential we have. There is also much to gain economically
here – but also to lose if no action is taken.

Unter Experten besteht Einigkeit: Ein Wendepunkt
in der Technologie- und damit der Menschheitsgeschichte
ist erreicht. Uneinig ist man sich jedoch, ob dies gut oder
schlecht ist. Das kann nur die Zukunft zeigen. Doch wir
sollten nicht auf sie warten, sondern uns aktiv an ihrer Entwicklung
beteiligen. Künstliche Intelligenzen - kurz: KI – sind
auf dem Vormarsch und nicht aufzuhalten. Wer nicht mitmarschiert,
ist schnell abgehängt. Um jedoch
über die Zukunft und die Technik zu bestimmen,
muss man die Technik beherrschen. Schon jetzt
können KI ziemlich viel. Sie können Hautkrebs
genauso gut und schneller erkennen als Fachärzte
und im Optimieren von Prozessen sind sie
wahre Meister. In Zukunft sollen sie noch mehr
lernen – selbständig. Das ist, was KI von früheren
Programmen unterscheidet: es muss nicht mehr jedes
Detail einzeln manuell programmiert werden, KI können extrapolieren.
Doch genau diese Fähigkeit inspirierte Elon Musk
zu einem Horrorszenario, in dem eine lernende Maschine
Erdbeeren ernten soll und schlussendlich die Zivilisation
vernichtet, da sie als effektivste Methode zur Erfüllung ihrer
Aufgabe die Verbreitung von Erdbeerfeldern für sich erkannt
hat. Der deutsche Forscher Jürgen Schmidhuber – eine Koryphäe
auf dem Gebiet der KI – hingegen blickt viel optimistischer
in die Zukunft. Er betrachtet die lernenden Maschinen
nicht als Bedrohung sondern als Chance, als riesiges Potential
und als Helfer für die Menschheit, der ihr die Routineaufgaben
und auch mehr abnimmt und so das Leben erleichtert.
Doch wo sind die Grenzen? Und wer bestimmt sie? Wessen
Moral dient als Messlatte? Die Beantwortung vor allem der
ethischen Fragen, die sich im Zusammenhang mit KI stellen,
wird wohl länger dauern, als die Entwicklung der Technik, bei
der wir dringend den Anschluss schaffen müssen, um moralisch
Einfluss nehmen zu können. In der Grundlagenforschung
und im Maschinenbau steht Europa gut da. Die Politik muss
sich bewegen und das Potential, welches wir haben, nutzen.
Auch wirtschaftlich gibt es hier viel zu gewinnen. Aber eben
auch zu verlieren, wenn nicht gehandelt wird.

Los expertos coinciden en que se ha alcanzado
un punto de inflexión en la historia de la tecnología y, por
tanto, de la humanidad. Sin embargo, hay desacuerdo en
cuanto a si esto es bueno o malo. Sólo el futuro puede

que distingue a la IA de los programas anteriores: ya no
es necesario programar cada detalle manualmente, la IA
puede extrapolar. Pero fue esta habilidad la que inspiró a
Elon Musk a crear un escenario de horror en el que una
máquina de aprendizaje cosecharía fresas y finalmente
destruiría la civilización, reconociendo que la manera
más efectiva de cumplir su misión es esparcir campos de
fresas. El investigador alemán Jürgen Schmidhuber, una
luminaria en el campo de la IA, es mucho más optimista
sobre el futuro. Él considera las máquinas de aprendizaje
no como una amenaza sino como una oportunidad, como

five-masted ship of the Monegasque shipping
company Star Clippers is currently the largest sailing
ship in the world and an attraction in every
harbour. The Royal Clipper combines traditional
sailing romanticism with four-star comfort and
culinary delights. The 114 cabins, all equipped
with marble bathrooms, are decorated in maritime

is the three-storey atrium, where breakfast and
lunch are served at richly filled buffet tables. In the
evening, delicious multi-course menus are served
on fine porcelain. But the real attraction awaits
you on deck. As soon as wind and weather permit,
the captain gives the order to set sail. Creaking,
the cloth pushes its way up the masts, which are
up to 54 metres high, until 42 white sails flutter
in the wind. Especially at dusk, it becomes romantic.
Friends toast with champagne, couples in love
find each other arm in arm at the railing, and some
travellers wipe a tear out of their eyes when »Conquest
of Paradise«, the atmospheric departure
melody of the Star Clippers ships, sounds across
the sea.

dishes, situated near La Caleta beach in the
city of Cádiz. Also well worth checking out is the
Michelin-starred cuisine of head chef Ángel León
at the "Aponiente" restaurant in El Puerto de Santa

Vorher sollte man in einer der
schönen Beach-Bars einen Sundowner zu sich nehmen.
Übrigens ist der Sonnenuntergang an der Costa de la Luz
deshalb so spektakulär, weil die Rayleigh-Streuung die
Sonne als glühend rote Kugel langsam im Meer versinken
lässt. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis!

The opening event of the yachting season,
the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018, which ended
on Sunday, September 16, saw 542 exhibitors,
638 boats (including 219 new models) and 51,000
visitors, who had come from all over the world to
ad mire the best of the French and international offering
in motor, sailing, monohull and multihull boats.
While discovering the latest key technology trends
and getting advice from professionals, potential
buyers had the opportunity to test drive some of the
world’s finest yachts on trips out to sea. With its
eclectic offering, the Cannes Yachting Festival once
again pulled in the crowds and enabled exhibitors to
do a considerable amount of business.
»Over six days, all the major players in yachting

von Cannes wieder einmal die Massen an und
ermöglichte es den Ausstellern, ein beachtliches

recovered its best pre-crisis performance, with a
turnover of 4.8 billion euros and over 40,000 employees,
the exhibitors from around the world were
delighted to receive an increasingly high-quality,
informed and international clientele, on the lookout
for new products and keen to make purchases

Da die französische Schifffahrtsindustrie mit einem
Umsatz von 4,8 Milliarden Euro und über 40.000 Mitarbeitern
sich von ihrer Krise erholt zu haben scheint,
freuten sich die Aussteller aus aller Welt über eine
immer hochwertigere, informierte und internationale

in the short term. Once again, the Cannes Yachting
Festival, which showcases some of boat-building’s
unique know-how and hosts its experts, has confirmed
its position as Europe’s largest in-water nautical
exhibition.
Following the wishes of exhibitors and customers
for larger exhibition areas, both in the water
and on land, a real showcase, 100% dedicated to
monohull and multihull sailing and able to accommodate
over one hundred sailing boats, will be
in stalled at Port Canto in 2019. With over 800 linear
metres of quayside for monohulls and multihulls,
Port Canto offers exceptional water-based facilities
and extensive areas on land enabling shipyards to
showcase their boats in an unparalleled way. With
these moves, the Vieux Port will henceforth be dedicated
to the motor nautical industry. It will enable
shipyards and equipment manufacturers to expand
their exhibition areas (on land and in the water) and
open up their quays to new exhibitors and brands.
This major reorganisation, on the one hand, reflects

Mit über 800 Laufmetern Kai für Ein- und Mehrrumpfboote
bietet Port Canto außergewöhnliche wasserbasierte
Einrichtungen und ausgedehnte Flächen an
Land, die es den Werften ermöglichen, ihre Boote auf
unvergleichliche Weise zu präsentieren. Damit widmet
sich der Vieux Port künftig der nautischen Motorindustrie.

VERDECKTE GEWINNAUSSCHÜTTUNG
BEI EINER SPANISCHEN IMMOBILIEN S.L.
In den zurückliegenden Jahren war es eine
gängige Praxis beim Kauf einer Immobilie in Spanien,
dass diese durch eine Kapitalgesellschaft
erworben wurde. Hauptsächlich erfolgte dies über
die Gesellschaftsform der »Sociedad Limitada« (SL),
die der deutschen GmbH entspricht. Dieses Vorgehen
begründete sowohl diverse Steuervorteile, wie
zum Beispiel die Vermeidung der spanischen Erbschaftssteuer,
als auch die Wahrung der Anonymität
der Käufer und das kostenlose Nutzen der Immobilie
durch die Gesellschafter und ihrer Familien.
Der Bundesfinanzhof entschied jedoch schon 2013
in einem Urteil (12.06.2013 Az IR 109/10), dass das
unentgeltliche Nutzen jener Ferienimmobilien durch
ihre Gesellschafter eine verdeckte Gewinnausschüttung
begründet. Für die Gesellschaft stellt es
danach keinen Nutzen dar, sondern es »entnimmt«
ihr lediglich etwas, was dann natürlich auch in
Deutschland besteuert werden muss.
Seit 2013 ist es sowohl nach deutschem als auch
nach spanischem Steuerrecht üblich, dass der
Gesellschafter für die Nutzung der Immobilie eine
kostendeckende beziehungsweise marktübliche
Miete zahlt. Sofern der Gesellschafter eine geringere
als die marktübliche Miete zahlt, kann jedoch
trotzdem noch die Gefahr bestehen, dass das
Finanzamt eine verdeckte Gewinnausschüttung
annimmt. Was letztendlich »marktüblich« ist, ist
insbesondere abhängig von der Lage, Größe und
Ausstattung der Immobilie sowie von anderen wertbildenden
Faktoren.
Im Sommer 2017 wurde die Rechtsprechung weiter
verschärft. Es reicht nicht mehr aus, dass die Gesellschafter
eine marktübliche Miete zahlen, sondern
diese muss nun darüber hinaus auch die Kosten
des Grundstücks und dessen Finanzierung decken.
Man spricht hier von einer sogenannten »Kostenmiete«.
Weiter befreit auch das 2013 geschlossene
Doppelbesteuerungsabkommen den Gesellschafter
nicht von seiner Nachversteuerungspflicht. Nur
wenn die Nutzung in Spanien tatsächlich besteuert
wird, wäre die deutsche Steuer auf die spanische
anzurechnen.
Nun erwartet uns eine weitere einschneidende
Neuerung. Seit Herbst 2017 werden neben den
Informationen zu unbeweglichem Vermögen im
jeweils anderen Land auch die Informationen zwischen
den spanischen und deutschen Finanzämtern
zu den Finanzkonten ausgetauscht. Insofern ist den
jeweiligen Behörden jetzt auch ersichtlich, welcher
Gesellschafter einer SL bislang für seinen Urlaub
welche Beträge gezahlt hat.
Aufgrund dieser Informationen beginnen die deutschen
Finanzämter nun mit der Bearbeitung der

einzelnen Fälle. Es könnten also in der Tat enorme
Nachzahlungen für die deutschen Gesellschafter
entstehen. Nach alledem ist der Kauf einer Immobilie
über eine spanische »Sociedad Limitada«
nicht mehr zu empfehlen. Alle Mandanten, die
eine Immobilie durch eine SL halten, sollten nun
handeln. So sind zum Beispiel die Steuererklärungen
der einzelnen Gesellschafter in Deutschland
schnellstmöglich zu berichtigen. Da die verdeckte
Gewinnausschüttung einen deutschen Hintergrund
hat und in seiner Art als verhinderte Vermögensmehrung
zu behandeln ist, ist das deutsche Besteuerungsrecht
einschlägig.

Many of the most prominent and wealthy
collectors of the 20th and 21st century have been
beguiled by the lure of a Fabergé Egg. Now, in a
contemporary fashion, a new Fabergé Egg has been

of luxury have joined forces to create one unique

»Das Kunstwerk entstand aus dem Wunsch
heraus, die Bespoke Personalisierung weiter

Kunden nach einzigartigen Gegenständen entwarf
ein Designer von Rolls-Royce das Ei und entfachte
damit eine Faszination. Ohne Zweifel wird es
zu einem der sammelwürdigsten Gegenstände der
modernen Zeit werden.« Ein Team aus sieben Handwerksspezialisten
von Fabergé fertigte das Ei aus
feinsten Materialien. Es ist 160 Millimeter hoch,
wiegt 400 Gramm und ruht auf einem guillochierten
Fuß aus 18-karätigem Weißgold. Die Arme aus
Roségold definieren die Form des Eis. Sie öffnen
sich, wenn ein versteckter Hebel betätigt wird, und
geben den Blick auf die Gestalt der Spirit of Ecstasy
frei. Diese ist aus einem Bergkristall handgefertigt.
Die mit weißen Diamanten verzierten Roségold-
Arme sind mit natürlichen Amethysten besetzt, die
speziell im Hinblick auf Farbsättigung und Reinheit
ausgewählt wurden.

Was bei einer ausgewogenen Ernährung zu beachten ist
All dog or cat owners ask themselves whether
they are feeding their pet properly. You can
get enough information about that, especially the
search engines on the internet can be very helpful.
However, there is a lot of information that
is not always the same and can lead to misunderstandings.
With this article general aspects
of an optimal food for dogs and cats should be
enumerated.
Both dogs and cats belong to the group of carnivores.
Nevertheless, both animal species show clear
differences in their eating behaviour. Cats are
pure carnivores, while dogs (and their ancestors,
the wolves) eat other food sources in addition to
meat, such as berries, grasses and fruit. Therefore,
they cannot be called pure carnivores, but Carni-Omnivores
(carnivores and omnivores). Another
difference is that the nutrient metabolism of both
species is different, which means that dogs and
cats have to be fed differently.
One of the most important raw materials that a
dog or cat food must contain is protein, which is
important for the maintenance of the body and
organ systems. This can be obtained from animal
products as well as from plants. However, it
should be mentioned that animal protein is of higher
quality for dogs and cats as it can be better
utilized.
The carbohydrates are another source that is
important for our pet. They give it energy and in
most cases are contained in the food in the form
of starch. This starch is found in plant substances
such as cereals and tubers. The digestibility of
starch is made possible by heating, otherwise it

immer alle gleich sind und zu Missverständnissen

Aspekte eines optimalen Futters bei Hund und Katze
aufgezählt werden.Sowohl Hunde als auch Katzen
gehören zu der Gruppe der Fleischfresser (sog. Carnivoren).
Trotzdem weisen beide Tierarten deutliche
Unterschieden in ihrem Fressverhalten auf. Katzen
sind reine Fleischfresser, während Hunde (und ihre
Ahnen, die Wölfe) zusätzlich zum Fleisch auch andere
Nahrungsquellen wie Beeren, Gräser und Obst aufnehmen.
Deshalb können sie nicht als reine Carnivoren,
sondern als Carni-Omnivore (Fleisch- und Allesfresser)
bezeichnet werden. Ein weiterer Unterschied
liegt darin, dass der Nährstoffwechsel beider Tierarten
unterschiedlich ist, was bedeutet, dass Hunde
und Katzen unterschiedlich ernährt werden müssen.
Eines der wichtigsten Rohstoffe, dass ein Hundeoder
Katzenfutter enthalten muss, ist das Protein,
das wichtig für die Aufrechterhaltung der Körper- und
Organsysteme ist. Dieses kann aus tierischen Produkten
als auch aus Pflanzen gewonnen werden. Allerdings
muss erwähnt werden, dass tierisches Protein
für Hund und Katze hochwertiger ist, da es besser
verwertet werden kann. Die Kohlenhydrate sind eine
weitere Quelle, die für unsere Haustier wichtig sind.
Sie geben einem die Energie und sind in den meisten
Fällen in Form von Stärke im Futter enthalten.
Diese Stärke ist in pflanzlichen Stoffen wie z.B im
Getreide und Knollen zu finden. Die Verdaulichkeit

Fats are just as important. These provide the body

characteristic is that they
serve as flavour carriers
and thus improve the
acceptance of the food.
These can be supplemented
in animal (e.g. salmon
oil) or vegetable (e.g. linseed
oil) form in the feed.
There are also a variety
of other products that
should be contained in
the food. Dietary fiber is
important for digestion, vitamins, minerals and
trace elements are very important for proper body
function.
By processing industrial feed, these must be
added to the feed, as they are lost during processing.
The same should also be done with homecooked
feed.

sind wichtig für die Verdauung, Vitamine, Mineralien
und Spurenelemente sind für die korrekte Körperfunktion
sehr wichtig. Durch die Verarbeitung von industriellem
Futter müssen diese dem Futter ergänzt werden,
da sie bei der Verarbeitung verloren gehen. Das
gleiche sollte aber auch bei selbstgekochtem Futter
gemacht werden.

On December 15, the German Clinic invited to its
opening ceremony. Around 200 guests accepted the
invitation, including many medical colleagues and
some celebrities such as Marbella's City Councillor
for Economics and Industry José Eduardo Díaz
Molina, former footballer Thomas Strunz and the
international tenor Rodrigo Orrego. The latter treated
the guests to a demonstration of his impres sive
singing skills. The audience acknowledged the
performance with thunderous applause.
The guests were very impressed by the modern and
tastefully furnished rooms, including a waiting area
suitable for children.
In conclusion, it can be said that the German Clinic
Marbella has got off to a good start and will certainly
establish itself as one of the leading interdisciplinary
clinics on the Costa del Sol.

What are the main changes and novelties when talking
about the hotel?
We are very excited about the recently completed
renovation of our hotel lobby area, Black Rose Bar,
the new Spanish infused Grill Baltazar and our
newly designed Beach Club Spiler.
These changes lead to a new and fresh look and
feel of the hotel attracting also a new clientele driving
our overall performance. The intention was to
establish a new dining hub at the Costa del Sol and
therefore we founded the brand El Paseo del Mar
featuring the Black Rose the Bar, Baltazár Bar and
Grill and Spiler Beach Club.
¿Cuáles son las principales novedades y cambios
respecto al hotel?
Estamos muy entusiasmados con la renovación recientemente
completada de nuestro lobby, Black Rose
Bar, nuestro nuevo restaurante español Baltazár y
nuestro chiringuito, Spiler Beach Club.
Estos cambios conducen a una imagen nueva y
fresca del hotel que atrae a su vez, a nueva clientela
que impulsa nuestro desempeño general. La
intención fue establecer un nuevo centro gastronómico
en la Costa del Sol y, por lo tanto, fundamos
la marca El Paseo del Mar con Black Rose the Bar,
Baltazár Bar and Grill y Spiler Beach Club.
What are the main challenges that you will face?
The heavy seasonality here at the Costa del Sol
is definitely one of the main challenges. The peak
season of summer is rather short and with the
recovery of competing countries like Turkey, Egypt,
Greece has created new challenges. We need to
identify the right clientele to continue the success
story, tapping into new markets as well like India,
China and attracting more guests from within Spain
to enjoy the beauty of the Costa del Sol.
¿Principales retos con los que se enfrenta?
La fuerte estacionalidad aquí en la Costa del Sol es
definitivamente uno de los principales desafíos. La
temporada alta de verano es bastante corta y con
la recuperación de los países de nuestra competencia
como Turquía, Egipto, Grecia ha creado nuevos
desafíos. Necesitamos identificar a los clientes adecuados
para continuar teniendo éxito, aprovechando
nuevos mercados como India, China y atrayendo a
más visitantes de España para disfrutar de la belleza
de la Costa del Sol.
What are you offering on the gastronomy side?
As mentioned above, we have developed a fantastic
gastronomic centre »El Paseo del Mar«, here at the
Kempinski Hotel Bahía to offer a variety of options
to enjoy good food and company.

Como ya se mencionó anteriormente, hemos desarrollado

How do you visualize this new stage?
The hotel is preparing itself for a new era. The public
areas and dining venues have a new look and
feel, ready to cater to a new generation of guests.
It is an open secret but I personally believe the quality
of service is even more important than ever and
therefore we will introduce »Kempinski moments«
throughout the hotel to create a memorable,
authentic guest journey.
We like to surprise our guests, however at the same
time ensure the basics are completely right for the
guest’s convenience. We are fully committed to
quality and the allocation of our resources is in this
direction from now onwards. We are not yet there
but determined to provide our distinguished guests
a wonderful experience when spending time with
us on the Costa del Sol.

El hotel se prepara para una nueva era. Las zonas
públicas y los restaurantes tienen una nueva apariencia,
listos para atender a una nueva generación
de huéspedes. Es un secreto a voces, pero personalmente

Baltazár Bar & Grill represents an urbanised
traditional bodega with fantastic views of the
lush gardens and pools of the hotel.
By using only honest and natural Spanish products,
the chefs at Baltazár apply various local and international
cooking techniques to give dishes that
unique taste. Spanish classics, but also grilled
meats and fresh fish, are prepared on one of the
three different grills.
This restaurant offers a gastronomical experience
for business lunches or family dinners alike.
