honor, and set <strong>the</strong>mselves to injure or destroy God's people, <strong>the</strong>y enter upon<br />

a path that ends only in destruction. They are doing <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> Satan. They<br />

are actuated by his spirit, and view matters from his stand-point. God may<br />

convict <strong>the</strong>m <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir wrong course, as he convicted Balaam; and if <strong>the</strong>y<br />

would make a decided change, <strong>the</strong>y might be redeemed; but <strong>the</strong>y seldom do<br />

this. They will not humble <strong>the</strong>ir hearts and be converted. Such men are<br />

following <strong>the</strong> same course pursued by Balaam. They really desire <strong>the</strong>ir end<br />

to be like that <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> righteous, but are unwilling to live <strong>the</strong> life <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

righteous.<br />
