Ride/Owner: Sara Watkiss
I was 13 years old when I got Call My Agent,
aka Blue. We bought Blue
as a Park/English pleasure
horse. As a junior rider, I
showed him at Arabian
shows in Park, English
Pleasure, Native Costume,
Show Hack, and later in
Country English Pleasure.
For fun I also showed him
in Sport Horse In-Hand. In
2014 we went to the
Canadian National Arabian & Half-Arabian
Championship Show and earned three Top
Tens in Show Hack and Sport Horse In-Hand.
In 2015 I graduated from high school and
headed off to college at the University of
Alabama. The summer before college my
trainer and I decided to bump Blue down to
Hunter Pleasure since I was bringing him to
college with me. We even hopped him over a few
fences just for fun.
community, and this was the only way
possible. This ignited a fire in me that I did not
know I had! I immersed myself in all aspects of
eventing --learning who the big name trainers
were, the rules, how things worked. I bought all
the gear and my former Park horse and I
learned to event from the ground up.
In my senior year of
college, Blue has
developed into one hell
of an event horse. We
have competed up to
novice and have
schooled some training!
I am so proud of the
brave event horse that
Blue has become. I think
the mental challenge that eventing proved to be
for both of us was the best cross training ever.
We still show Hunter Pleasure on the Arabian
circuit and have had a fairy tale season. His
ability to transition from the rail classes at
Arabian shows to a cross country beast never
ceases to amaze me. He has come a long way
in a short 3 years of being an event horse, and
I am incredibly proud of him. He truly is a
testament to the versatility of the Arabian-bred
sport horse.
While at college I
learned very quickly
that everyone either
did hunters, jumpers,
dressage or eventing.
Blue had already
proven to be versatile,
so I decided to start
eventing him. It was a
total “anything you can do, I can do better”
moment. I wanted to be involved in the horse
