Government
The City of Clarksville, founded in 1784, is governed by the Mayor-Council
system. The Mayor is elected at-large and serves a four-year term.
The City Council consists of 12 members who are elected from wards.

the Montgomery County government. They are elected by district
and serve four-year terms. An elected County Mayor handles the
daily operations of all departments and agencies of the County
government.
