crowded areas. One of his highlights was watching
sunset rise on Tonle Sap Lake with not a single other

JAPAN
Japan hosts not one, but two of the world’s biggest
sporting events in the next 12 months; the Rugby
World Cup followed by the Olympics. Both events
will no doubt shine a bright light on what is already a
popular and fascinating destination. We have already
received an increased interest in Japan, especially as
we have team members who have visited themselves.
A new direct flight from London to Osaka this year
also made it more convenient to explore Japan. For
a first time visitor, we would
recommend flying into Tokyo,
travelling up to Osaka by
bullet train to explore nearby
Kyoto, the cultural capital of
the country, and also lesser
known Nara, before heading
back to Osaka to fly home.
You can also include a side
trip to Hiroshima to see the
museum and memorial.
Travel around Japan can be
expensive so escorted tours are
a great way to keep control of
spending, as are some of the

(Miami, February), US Open
tennis (New York, August/
September) and Ryder Cup
(Wisconsin, September) all offer
the opportunity to extend your
stay beyond the sports events.

usual spectator tickets to make
them extra special too.
In Miami, we would definitely
recommend extending your
stay to relax on South Beach.
Wander among the art deco
beachfront buildings and soak
in the vibrant atmosphere the
city has become famous for. If
time permits, we can arrange car hire to drive along
the Florida Keys for a more relaxed pace of life and
the opportunity to escape city life. Visit Bahia State
Park off mile marker 37, which spans more than 500
acres of lush land. There is a beautiful bridge plus
offshore island in this state park which is an ideal
beach destination. There is great snorkeling plus the
opportunity to rent a kayak and explore the coastline
on your own. You can also take a boat tour out to the
Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary.
AUSTRALIA
Few would travel all the way down under just to
watch the Australian Open which takes place in
January and February, so why not incorporate the
excitement of the live matches in Melbourne into
longer itineraries. In the same city is the Australian
