2.3.2 Phase II: The First 31-60 days<br />
Arriving at the second phase of the marriage phase, you are now<br />
expected to act. The luxury of being in Phase I (Day 1-30), is that<br />
you are expected to listen and learn rather than act. While you<br />
have been in a grace period up until this stage – assessing, learning<br />
and diagnosing the company to gain a full overview of their<br />
situation – from here on, you should switch focus to the following<br />
two objectives, as faith and confidence are often entrusted in<br />
those who demonstrate the ability to impact and deliver:<br />
1. creating “early wins” and<br />
2. building momentum and motivational drivers of change.<br />
2.3.2.1 Creating “Early Wins”<br />
Within the first 60 days in your new role, it is crucial to focus on<br />
building your personal credibility in order to ensure strong<br />
personal relations among your stakeholders. The process of<br />
building your personal credibility starts on day one and should<br />
ideally gain momentum through Phase II (day 31-60). So, having<br />
learned and diagnosed successfully in Phase I, it is time to act,<br />
make decisions and create early wins.<br />
Building personal credibility is most effectively done through the<br />
creation and delivery of early wins (i.e. small but visible victories<br />
that assist your effort of building momentum), as they can be<br />
directly attributed to your actions, performance and good<br />
judgment. Make sure that those early wins comprise key<br />
priorities, shared with your manager. If this is not the case, you<br />
may end up with a frustrated manager, since you – in his/her eyes<br />
