Mr. Hagerty states that his inspiration
for painting came from artists such as
Milton Avery and Henri Matisse. Many
of his paintings are figurative with the
figure.s anatomy constructed of geometric
shapes. He has completed figure and face
portraits of people he knows and of his own
imagination. The primary medium he uses
is acrylic. The influence of the artist's Avery
and Matisse are evident in his work of
which he has developed his personal style
that is uniquely Hagerty.
In addition to the visual art and musical
creativity of James Hagerty, he has also
demonstrated his creativity as an author.
Some of the titles he has written include:
"Nut Grass", "The High Priesthood of
Being Gay", "Voices From the Tomb", and
"Tainted Glass". These titles are available
from Amazon and other booksellers. You
may see more of Mr. Hagery's visual work
on Facebook. He performs his musical
talent on the piano every Wednesday at the
Mizell Center in Palm Springs. He can be
