‘Eat Spain, Drink Spain’ is an initiative of Foods and Wines from Spain, a promotional
organisation forming part of the Commercial arm of the Spanish Embassy here in the UK.
The aim of the Eat Spain Drink Spain campaign is to bring these two great assets of Spain
together – our diverse and exciting wine offerings and our provenance-led authentic foods
- and to allow food and wine lovers alike to explore for themselves the sheer wealth of vinous
and culinary opportunities that Spain offers.
• 1. Bodegas La Val, Más Que Dos 2, 2017, D.O. Rías Baixas, Spain
Albariño, Treixadura, Loureiro. 12.5% ABV. Pronounced floral, citrus and herb aromas. The palate has
refreshing crisp, citrus flavours of Albariño balanced by touches of green apple from the Treixadura and
herbal, lightly smoky notes from Loureiro. [£13]
• 2. Bodegas Castro Martin, A20 ‘Sobre Lías’, 2017, D.O. Rías Baixas, Spain
100% Albariño. 12.5% ABV. Ripe and aromatic, with overtones of peach, melon and honey, offset by a crisp
tangy acidity that helps to balance the rich fruit flavors. A well-rounded wine with a long, mellow, honeyed
finish. [£12.99 - £14.99]
•
3. CVNE, CVNE Barrel Fermented Blanco, 2018, D.O.Ca. RIOJA, Spain
100% Viura. 13% ABV. A marvellously rich and creamy, soft-fruit style white Rioja that is full of elegance and
charm. With immediate citrus character on the palate, this wine benefits from fermentation in cask, which
rounds out the flavours. [£10.35]
• 4. Mar de Frades, Albariño, 2018, D.O. Rías Baixas, Spain
100% Albariño. 12% ABV. Mango, pineapple and lychees on the nose together with wild flowers and notes of
eucalyptus. Bright, fresh and vivacious on the palate, the tropical fruit flavours are lifted by a streak of Atlanticcoast
salinity. [£18.95]
• 5. Marqués de Murrieta, Capellanía, 2015, D.O.Ca. RIOJA, Spain
100% Viura. 12.5% ABV. Pale gold. Intense aroma of ripe golden fruit with smoke and almonds. The palate is
dry and savoury with oak vanilla overlaid with golden fruit, and a lovely balancing freshness on the finish. A
modern take on the traditional white Rioja style. [£24.99]
• 6. Gil Family Estates, Juan Gil Yellow, 2015, D.O. Jumilla, Spain
100% Monastrell. 15% ABV. Intense deep red cherry colour. Powerful in nose, clean and complex. Very
attractive fruity aromas, touches of ripe fruit and reminiscent of new wood. Well-balanced, soft tannins and
very long finish. [£9.50]
• 7. Bodegas Ondarre, Ondarre Reserva, 2014, D.O.Ca. RIOJA, Spain
Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Garnacha. 13.5% ABV. Deep cherry red with inky hues and a complex bouquet of fruit
aromas, spices and smoky aromas. On the palate, this wine has a smooth texture but with backbone and lots
of concentration, very elegant in style. [£15]
• 8. Altos de Rioja Viticultores y Bodegueros, Aaltos R Pigeage Graciano, 2016, D.O.Ca.
RIOJA, Spain
Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Garnacha. 14% ABV. Intense cherry red colour, well covered and with a beautiful purple
edge. It has a fresh nose, powerful and very complex with mineral notes , red berries, eucalyptus and white
peper. Balsamic and spicy. Powerful yet round, smooth and fresh. It shows again a great complexity with red
fruit flavours, spices and a very long finish. [£21]
