‘KIND OF BLUE’ CHARITY PERFORMANCE
"Kind of Blue", a local modern jazz quintet; will next be in the hall
of Bell, Woodham Ferrers on Monday October 28th, 8.30-11.
We will be serving up our usual mixture of jazz "classics" and
songs from the "Great American Songbook".
As it is so near to Halloween, we are featuring some of the more
macabre numbers from that source, such as Nina Simone's "I'll put
a spell on you" and "Old Devil Moon".
Seasonal arrangements
If you want something different, near to Christmas, come to the
Bell on the afternoon of Sunday 15th December, 2-5pm.
"Kind of Blue" will be hosting a gig consisting of numbers from
our usual jazz repertoire in the first half, but will lead a "Christmas
sing-song" in the second, accompanied by Sue's delicious buffet
and mulled wine.
Because we are holding this in the afternoon, we are anticipating
a similar demand as we experienced at our successful "Jazz on a
summer's day", and, although we will be using the hall behind the
Bell, which is larger than the bars in the pub, entry will have to be
limited and subject to a £5 ticket (obtainable from the Bell (01245
320443) and Dave (07774912083)).
Book places quickly, for they will surely sell like wildfire.
Proceeds will go to "Breast Cancer" and Crohn's disease (there
will also be a raffle).
So to "kick off" the start of the festive season, make the short
journey to Woodham Ferrers on December 15th, have a fun
afternoon, and contribute to a worthwhile cause.
PS Just a reminder that next year, instead of performing on cold
and dark Monday evenings, we are moving our regular "gigs" to
Sunday afternoons, so that you can get home before sunset.
