School for the Blind, celebrated the holidays at a<br />

party hosted for them by Sam Staten Jr., business<br />

manager and Local Laborers 332. Each child<br />

received a new coat and got to select a toy of his or<br />

her choice. Forty children received new bicycles.<br />

developed. Reading, singing, and<br />

dancing help to improve children’s<br />

brainpower, develop social skills, build<br />

confidence, and inspire creativity.<br />

Two Variety Musical Picnics were<br />

held this year in New South Wales<br />

and Australian Capital Territory<br />

for kids of all ages and abilities. The<br />

free, inclusive, and interactive events<br />

featured musical performances by<br />

Rachael Coopes and Teo Gebert.<br />

The events provided opportunities<br />

for children to increase social and<br />

community connections and promote<br />

a more positive attachment between<br />

caregiver and child.<br />

100 children with disabilities who attend<br />

programs through Variety of the Delaware Valley,<br />

The Variety Santa Fun Run returned to<br />

Newcastle Foreshore, with hundreds of runners,<br />

walkers, and rollers donning their Santa suits and<br />

braving the heat to raise funds for kids in need. It<br />

was a welcome return for this much-loved event,<br />

bringing festive cheer to the Newcastle, New<br />

South Wales, community.<br />
