It’san awesome spot to grab a beer, listento the live music and meet foreignerswho are new to Hangzhou and otherswho have been around for ages. Mojar(Mojitos) is nice as well. They’ve gottasty Mexican food in big portions andwith very reasonable prices. By theend of the night, everyone will end upat 9 Bar and party until the morning,dancing along to old hip-hop beats.What’s agood placeto get ameal?If I had to choose a goodplace to eat Chinese food, itwould probably be Grandma’sHouse. The selection is greatand almost everything servedthere is easy for foreignersto enjoy. One more top pickof mine is the Italian place,Ristorante Mullinaccio,right in the city centre inthe in 77 shopping mall.Which barsare yourfavourites inHangzhou?I rarely hang out at bars, but Iused to be at Socia10, House ofCards, and sometimes Wade’s.College has really nice food; I likethe pizza there. After midnight,the scene at College is great.What doyou liketo eat inHangzhou?Socia10 used to have wholeroast chickens which I loved toeat—they were my favouritedish there. I used to preferMargherita pizzas, but nowI like Salami pizza, instead.Wheredo youusually chillaroundHangzhou?I like to eat at westernrestaurants because it feelslike home, in a weird way.I like to relax with friendsaround West Lake because itis tranquil, and the scenery isbreath-taking. My friends andI enjoy going out togetherto the local beer bars aroundthe city. We spend a lot oftime at Aishang and I hangout at Wade's a lot. Thefood there is great, and thepeople are even better.Whatwould yourecommend topeople new toHangzhou?I tell people to visit WestLake as often as possibleand to visit Hefang Street toget a good introduction toChinese culture. I also enjoygoing to see ‘Little Paris’ inLinping and ‘Little Venice’ inHangzhou, it's interesting tosee these places recreatedhere in China. I enjoyIndian cuisine too, so Ioften go to Chakde Indianrestaurant where they serveauthentic, delicious food.redstarhangzhou.com 9
