PATHS AND TRAILS
The Community Council partnered with Okanogan Trail Construction to make
extensive enhancements to the 35 miles of paths and trails in DC Ranch. The
yearlong capital improvement project was substantially completed in 2019.
Improvements include an updated trail map; trail safety and connectivity
recommendations; and a new wayfinding system that includes:
• 70 posts with emergency markers
• 192 directional signs
• 3 kiosks and 3 pedestals with
systemwide maps
• 19 miles of paths (paved) and 16 miles of
trails (dirt/granite)
Safety improvements included slope stabilization, neighborhood ingress and
egress and crosswalk enhancements in each of the four villages.
In April, dozens of residents attended the Path and Trail Forum where they heard
from the Okanogan team as well as trail experts from the City of Scottsdale and the
McDowell Sonoran Conservancy to learn more about the path and trail system, the
Preserve and hiking safety in and around DC Ranch.
Upgrades to the path and trail system were a high priority
for residents in the responses to the resident survey.
