1073 after Pradier standing sappho bronze & onyx clock<br />

Late 19th/early 20th c, marked ‘’J. Pradier / 1843’’ (Jean-Jacques Pradier, 1792-1852,<br />

France) over a crowned ‘’VP’’, the dial signed ‘’Vor Paillard / F des Bronzes / Paris’’<br />

(Victor Paillard, 1805-1886, France), the movement stamped ‘’Vr Paillard / A Paris /<br />

1612’’, the circular enamel dial with Roman chapters within a squared case on an<br />

oval plinth, surmounted by a silvered and gilt figure of Sappho leaning against a<br />

patinated and gilt pedestal, overall, 25’’ H x 14’’ W x 8’’ D, est:$2500/3500. Note: A<br />

silvered and gilt figure of the Standing Sappho signed ‘’Pradier’’, of the same size sold<br />

Jackson’s Auction, Cedar Falls, IA, December 4, 2004, lot 92 ($6,400) Condition: The<br />

figure: 16’’ x 9’’ x 7’’. Figure decently cast. With gilt, patinated and silvered surfaces to<br />

bronze. Some spotting and discoloration to pedestal and scroll. General light marks,<br />

scratches and rubbing commensurate with age. Onyx case and base with some<br />

scattered chipped losses overall, as visible in the catalogue photos. With a repaired<br />

crack and loss to back of case of clock. Would benefit from further repair/touch up.<br />

Figure on onyx plinth is separate element from clock case. Working condition of clock<br />

is unknown and not guaranteed. No key.<br />

1074 a Continental Rococo style girandole mirror<br />

Late 19th/20th c, probably Dresden, the cartouche-form plate within a waved,<br />

palmette surround applied with floral vines and cupid figures, with a pair of candle<br />

nozzles to either side, 28’’ H x 17’’ W, est:$1500/2000 Condition: Good overall<br />

condition. With minor marks, scratches and rubbing to surface. With some minor<br />

losses to painted decoration overall. Also with very minor chipped losses to applied<br />

elements. Small chipped losses to candle nozzles. Some slight spotting and loss of<br />

silvering to plate around edges. Porcelain elements mounted to wooden backing.<br />

Unexamined away from backing. Not electrified.<br />

1075 Pair of Venetian style ceramic blackamoor figures<br />

Modern, depicted as a boy and girl, in traditional costume, holding a cushion, on<br />

square bases with canted corners, 2 pcs, the larger, 44.25’’ H x 11’’ W x 14’’ D,<br />

est:$700/900 Condition: In two sections, joined at waist. Both rather unstable, would<br />

benefit from stabilizing and securing when placed. Apparently unmarked. Generally<br />

good condition overall. With inherent pitting and imperfections to surface. General<br />

marks and scratches overall. Both figures with cushion and hands broken and<br />

repaired. Repaired chip to nose. All repairs very well executed and undetectable.<br />

Some small chips to tip of shoe and to edge of base in same area. Some dirt<br />

accumulation overall. Colors vibrant.<br />

1076 Venetian Rococo style red and gilt bureau cabinet<br />

20th c, the double-domed cornice above a pair of arched paneled doors enclosing a<br />

pair of shelves, over a slantfront enclosing an interior of drawers and pigeon holes,<br />

decorated in cream and white, with serpentine sides, above a pair of drawer, over a<br />

waved apron, on cabriole legs, decorated overall with Chinoiserie scenes,<br />

82.5’’ H x 50’’ W x 19’’ D, est:$1500/2000. Provenance: Property from the Marjorie<br />

Bacon Trust, Montecito, CA Condition: In two sections. Structurally sound. General<br />

marks, nicks scratches and light wear overall. Intentionally distressed finish to<br />

imitate age. With minor scattered chipped losses to painted decoration overall. With<br />

an overall stable craquelure to surface. Pull to left side of top drawer loose, would<br />

benefit from reaffixing. Wear to feet. One key.<br />
