► The Martian (2015) When astronauts blast off from the planet
Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed
dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies,
the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to
survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members
of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to
bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a
daring rescue mission.
► Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) A Steven Spielberg
masterpiece. An epic scientific adventure about a group of people
who attempt to contact alien intelligence. Roy Neary (Richard
Dreyfuss) witnesses an unidentified flying object, and even has a
“sunburn” from its bright lights to prove it. Roy refuses to accept an
explanation for what he saw and is prepared to give up his life to
pursue the truth about UFOs.
► Forrest Gump (1994) Slow-witted Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks)
has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his
supportive mother (Sally Field), he leads anything but a restricted
life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star,
fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires
people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares
about most may be the most difficult to save -- his childhood love,
the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright).
► Love Actually (2003) All of London is in love, or longing to be,
in this ultimate romantic comedy. Love Actually involves more than
a dozen main characters, each weaving his or her way into another’s
heart over the course of one particularly eventful Christmas. The
cast is impressive; Juliet (Keira Knightley) and Peter (Chiwetel
Ejiofor) bring many of the principals together. Best man Mark
