with two-stage barrel retained by two pierced steel barrel<br />

bands, fitted with silver ‘spider’ fore-sight, chiselled with<br />

foliage enriched with silver and gold at the median<br />

(losses), stamped with the gold-lined barrelsmith’s marks,<br />

inlaid with scrolling foliage and the date in silver over the<br />

breech (losses), the tang chiselled with foliage, chiselled<br />

lock stamped with a maker’s mark (indistinct), figured<br />

walnut three-quarter stock carved about the barrel tang<br />

and beneath the fore-end (chips, small cracks and<br />

repairs), and engraved moulded steel mounts including<br />

solid side-plate, vestigial butt-plate, and broad triggerguard<br />

with tapering rifled barrel fitted with brass fore-sight and<br />

retaining traces of a mark at the breech, strongly bevelled<br />

stepped regulation lock marked ‘Potsdam’, moulded<br />

figured walnut full stock with short butt, and regulation<br />

brass mounts including four faceted ramrod-pipes, and<br />

steel ramrod<br />
