A CASED PAIR OF 18 BORE FLINTLOCK OFFICER’S<br />

PISTOLS SIGNED GOODWIN & CO, LONDON,<br />

BIRMINGHAM PROOF MARKS, CIRCA 1810<br />

with rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels inscribed<br />

‘London’ and engraved with a band of foliage at the<br />

breeches, engraved case-hardened breech tangs<br />

incorporating the back-sights, signed stepped bevelled<br />

locks engraved with foliage, fitted with rollers, ‘French’<br />

cocks and bolt safety-catches (one loose), figured walnut<br />

full stocks, slender butts carved with pineapple<br />

chequering, engraved blued steel mounts comprising<br />

trigger-guards decorated with bouquets on the bows and<br />

with pineapple finials, small butt caps decorated with a<br />

large star, and a pair of ramrod-pipes, and vacant brass<br />

escutcheons (one ramrod replaced the other missing): in<br />

their original fitted mahogany case lined in green baize<br />

(worn, the case and lid cracked), with a contemporary<br />

three-way flask covered in red morroco<br />
