Chinese export porcelain dinner service commissioned for
a Danish family, decorated in iron-red and gold, the centre
with a round cartouche containing a Chinese landscape
with a river. In the background, European architecture.
Rim with a leaf border. Comprises 35 dinner plates, 14
soup plates, 18 lunch plates, two deep oval dishes, four
smaller and , four larger oval dishes, two oval dishes, three
round dishes, two + two oval roasting dishes, another oval
dish, two sauceboats, three salts, three tureens, one with
the cover knob repaired. China, 18th century. (94). Also 57
items of the service which have been repaired.
The service was previously called The Reeske Service, but was in
fact acquired by the family in the mid-nineteenth century.
