All in the Family HoskinBy: Rana Goodman / On My Soapboxam sure you will all find comfort in knowingI that while Nevadans are struggling to keepbusinesses open and bills paid, two of JudgeCharles “Chuck” Hoskin’s family members are gettingsteady paychecks working for the Eighth Judicial District Court, FamilyDivision (EJDC).Yes, this is the same courthouse where Judge Hoskin currently worksand previously served as the Presiding Judge for Guardianship. For approximately four years, Courtnie Hoskin, who is JudgeHoskin’s daughter, has worked in the Family Court Clerk’s office. Shefirst obtained part-time employment at the court while her father wasserving as the Presiding Judge.Courtnie is now a full-time courtroom clerk working with JudgeWilliam Voy. You remember Judge Voy. Publisher Dan’s article lastmonth exposed his family connections.I guess these repeat “honorable” offenderslook out for each other. As The VegasVoice has claimed: The FamilyCourt system is not broken –it’s fixed.Anyway, in 2019, anotherHoskin mysteriously appearedin a supervisory role for theFamily Court Clerk’s office. ThisHoskin is none other thanJudge Hoskin’s wife, TeresaHoskin. How can this happen youask? The individual “responsible forpersonnel and fiscal services” is SteveGrierson who is the Chief Executive Officer andClerk of Court for the EJDC. Mr. Grierson is beholdento the pleasure and whim of every sitting judge. After all, it was the judges that collectively voted Mr.Grierson into the top court position and provided him with an overlygenerous pay raise which the judges convinced the Clark CountyCommissioners to ratify. While there is a Human Resources (HR) division of the EJDC, the HRManager works at the pleasure of the judges too. Let’s face it, everybodyin the Court system gets and stays employed at the pleasure of thejudges - and the judges resoundingly get what they want. The moral of this story about the three Hoskins of Family Courtis: Nepotism is alive and well in our FamilyCourt system. Do you really believe the judges andcourt management would turn a blind eye toany transgression of either Courtnie or Teresato the detriment of other employees andthe public? I think the answer is clear. It’s time for us to start draining thiscesspool. It is readily apparent thatthe Nevada judiciary (from judges tolawyers to all “insiders”) cannot orwill not do so.In the November election JudgeChuck Hoskin is once again askingthe public to return him to the (FamilyCourt, Department E) bench. We arehoping that our readers, “we the people”will make sure that does not happen. We will have a lot more to say about thisjudge and the failure of the judicial system in theupcoming months.Let’s tell CHUCK the Hoskin family taxpayer BUCK stops here! THROWTHE CHUCK OUT - once and for all!22August 2020You can contact Rana by email: Rana@thevegasvoice.net. Alsocheck out her blog about life in Sun City Anthem at:Anthemtoday.com
