The Republican Party wasn't founded on
the southern strategy. The Republican
Party was founded as an individualist,
pro-individual rights, slave-emancipation
party... against the collectivist, antiindividual
rights (i.e. collective rights),
pro-slavery Democrat Party.
The southern strategy was an attempt to
gain the southern states after racist
southern Democrats fled to the northern
and western states following the end of the
Civil War and the closing of the doors to
open borders immigration in 1929.
It was hoped that in capturing those
southern states that the Republican Party
could not only hold the west and the north,
but also the south too, and thus solidify a
total dominance over the whole of the
United States.
